The question should be how important is it that our schools are safe for teachers as well as students. Of course, a better solution would be for teachers to be trained and armed and that wouldn't cost extra.

That means the store is basically not going to make any profit of about $6,000.00 worth of merchandise that leaves the store. Ain't nothing 'misdemeanor' about that!

I just watched an incredibly scary video of a Golden Eagle swooping down and snatching a toddler off the ground (in Montreal, Canada), and attempting to fly off with it before dropping it a few feet later. Canada will probably put a bounty out for Golden Eagles, but if that had happened in the USA, liberal eco-groups would be trying to ban taking babies to our parks so our eagles wouldn't be lured into such situations.

If Congress wants effective gun control, Congress only has to adapt rules on the books, and work with the Court system to do so. Simply pass a new law that if a criminal fires a gun not legally obtained/owned by said criminal while committing any felony crime, make it an unappealable death sentence that gets carried out the same day as the verdict.

Hammar is back now.. guess the Mexican government realized that Hammar was a Marine, and fellow Marines just might remake that trip to 'the halls of Montezuma' and show Mexico the Marine version of "It's HAMMAR-time".

Boehner has had a tough time, but it's been his own fault. He's chosen to play a public game of "chicken" with the media's favorite "rooster", rather than just stand firm on good legislative presentations.

I hate to even mention Geraldo Rivera's name, but he's grandstanding again. On Fox & Friends, he salubriously held up his NRA membership card and proclaimed he would come back on and "shred" it if the NRA president didn't call for banning semi-automatic rifles. Guess Geraldo is trying to get onto the Hollywood A-list.

That death involving a MCSD employee being out at 6:35 AM on a Saturday and running down several women (including one death) was bad enough, but the situation showed that past Council action to spend money on style versus substance has come back to haunt it. The SPLOST sidewalk program funding was inadequate for all the projects that each Councilor wanted in his/her district so Council stretched the money out by building sidewalks along high traffic roads but didn't build curbs (which would at least alert drivers that were drifting out of the lanes) because it would have cost more money and meant less sidewalks. That and the cost of having to put storm sewer openings along the curbd to take care of excess rain water. The rub is that there are many other places similar sidewalks were installed that have worse possibilities of death for pedestrians.
