To most of you, Happy Fathers' Day; to Phil, we add Happy Birthday and good luck in Round 4.

How neat is it that lefty golfers could win the Southeastern Amateur and the US Open in the same weekend?

---

Speaking of the Southeastern Amateur, how many people can say that both their father and younger brother won that event twice...each? Only ones I know of are my older brother, my older sister, and me. Dad won it in 1933 and 1935, and my brother won in 1981 and 1987. Of special note is that in 1933, when the Southeastern (and all major tournaments were match play), my Dad beat his Dad in the finals, 2-1 over 36 holes.

My comment yesterday about there not being a tax freeze musta hit home. One Councilor defended the City's new property tax breakdown as a "shift", but failed to recognize the City can raise milage rates, and ignored the fact that the MCSD also has tax powers, and has increased milage rates for next year.

Online story passed on from fellow BCer: "Chris Matthews’ Sunday program, The Chris Matthews Show has been cancelled. * Matthews says that he was forced to abandon a syndicated column in order to host The Chris Matthews Show in 2002.* “I will miss having the weekend show just as I missed having the column, but I can’t do everything and still do what I have to do well,” Matthews concludes." -- Atheist and other liberals take note.... God has 'tingled' on Chris Matthews.

The L-E has a rehash of a tragic daycare facility fire, and the lawyers seem only interested in whether or not the CFD did everything by the book. Pitiful... you would think the lawyers would be concentrating on the improperly run/managed daycare facility, but I'm sure they have determined there's not enough insurance to make it worth their while so they are wanting to go after the City's deep pockets.

---

How can Dusty Nix of the L-E scourge Sonny Perdue for the housing financial folly and mot bring in the names of Sen Dodd, Rep Barney Frank, and Presidents Clinton & Carter?

---

What a wonderful tribute to fatherhood by Karl Douglass today in the L-E. My question for Karl is how can he vote for, much less work for a DUMBERat?

---

Don't be alarmed, but I'm asking you to read Leonard Pitts' column published in the Columbus L-E today. Then read the letter I just sent to him:

past support of what is "cooking" our future.

L-E's "Quotable “My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my life there.” -Charles Kettering - American inventor (1876-1958) -- We need more politicians (and liberal journalist) that think like this rather than just getting re-elected.
---
Don't be alarmed because I'm asking you to read Leonard Pitts' column in the Columbus L-E today. Then come back and read my e-mail to him:
This is not my first comment about your editorial commentary, but it is the first one I endorse/agree with you. Unfortunately, you hype the antithesis of your words by blindly supporting the Democratic Party mantra. I think of your awakening is akin to the lobster that is put into a cold vat of water, but doesn't realize that the burner below is beginning to cook it until it's too late. Hope you will backtrack your columns and revoke your past support of what is "cooking" our future.

Big hair.... it comes and goes in fashion cycles, but never leaves in Miss Georgia pageants. This year is no exception. Welcome back to Columbus!

Michael Kim really has put on a show for Amateur golfers. The Haskins Award winner showed why his peers respect his game. Too bad the announcers only credited him with the late coming Jack Nicklaus Award.

Memorial Day weekend was wonderful on the Gulf Coast. This past weekend was even better. 30A oughta hire me as its PR agent.

---

Since Bleep Veep Biden has been kept out of the press for the past few weeks, is it because Judas 00-bama is afraid that some mainstream media reporter might ask Biden does he still think Judas 00-bama is "clean" as he once said?

---

Online headline: "The Most Affordable Luxury Cars" -- Is this not a candidate for "Oxymoron of the Year"?

---

Online story...on some sort of note, sad or otherwise: "Bassist Kim Deal has quit the Pixies after 25 years. The band released a statement Friday confirming that Deal, who has been an on-again, off-again member of the highly influential rock outfit, had decided to part ways with the group." -- Does anyone know who Kim Deal OR The Pixies are? Any song they gave to the world? Why HuffPost would enter this in the news?
